THE ENTANGLEMENT OF ALL PEOPLE

As time has progressed throughout all history since the dawn of man, there have been many interpretations as to how oneself should live life, yet many would see to it only one way in order to keep order and balance in ones life. This lifestyle and the connection behind how people interpret life is what must be taken into consideration.

During the progression of each individual scene, I observed that every culture implements many alternative methods towards worshipping some higher being or individual. Despite the splintered link between one region and the other in terms of deity or way of living, one thing is undisputable, that is the communication. Whether it be verbal or non-verbal, written or visual, etc. ,we still (and forever so) need this in order to get by with others. Although the people have there differences it must be respected and appreciated to a degree due to the fact that they have established order within the very society they live in and that is something that should not be tampered with.

Another striking element of "Baraka" is its exploration of the relationship between humanity and the environment. The film shows the harsh impact of human activity, showing both the beauty and devastation that were (and still are) caused by our actions. Through time-lap sequences and multitude of shots, it captures the delicate balance between nature and civilization. The film may not have much in terms of words, but the sounds distributed give it quite the omnipresence.

In conclusion, all bare resemblance, even if raised apart in specialized environments. Dialogue wasn't needed to demonstrate the connections shown in this film. I could honestly say that even without knowing these cultures, I have already formed a connection with them even if only spiritually. Interpretation is greatly perceivable by those who have/will watch such a masterpiece.
